About Me

My Story

Hello! I’m Aurora, a fitness coach and researcher.

I’m passionate about translating complex science into clear, engaging stories that inspire action. My background includes a biology degree with a chemistry minor, years of hands-on work in fitness and nutrition, and ongoing biochemical research on mechanotransduction in osteoarthritis pathology at Montana State University.

My own journey navigating celiac disease and related health challenges has given me a deeply personal connection to the science I share. I understand both the data and the lived experience so I bridge the two.

Through1- on -1 coaching and creative projects, I explore topics like joint health, chronic disease prevention, environmental impacts on wellness, and the intersections between individual and societal health.

Everyone deserves to feel awesome, and I believe the more we understand the science behind bodily functioning, the more empowered we are to create healthier lives and communities.

Mission

Bonafide Brilliance exists to make science and health topics engaging, accessible, and actionable by translating complex research into clear, captivating stories that empower people to understand their health, make informed decisions, and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable world.

About my sessions

Since my background offers an extremely broad scope of the factors that affect human health, there are many topics we might discuss in a session. Main focuses will vary greatly from person to person. After our initial discover call, I will assess what the best order and pace of integration will be for you. Below I have broken down what exactly we might discuss in a session.

What we will cover

Nutrition

Macro tracking:

if you are a complete beginner to nutrition, we will use online software to track your macronutrient and calorie intake to support your goals. This could mean a deficit for weight loss, a surplus for weight gain, or simply sticking to maintenance and making sure you're getting enough protein, fiber, and micronutrients.

Non- tracking/ intuitive approach:

For those who have tracked macronutrients before and/or have struggled with disordered eating, I find it's more beneficial to work on learning intuitive eating by making sure you're getting the nutrients you need while learning how to listen and respond to your bodies hunger and fullness cues.

Movement

Resistance training:

I work with each of my clients on putting together a weight training routine that will be sustainable for their schedule. This is essential for maintaining bone density and increasing muscle mass, naturally decreasing your chances of getting metabolic disorders like type II diabetes.

Walking, Mobility, etc:

Alongside weight training, lower impact range of motion training is extremely beneficial for maintaining joint integrity and reducing injury risk. With my strength training programs, I include mobility routines. Based on your occupation and preferred activities, I will provide suggestions for how often you should be walking, biking, or swimming. These are considered cyclic motion activities and are extremely beneficial to supporting protein synthesis in the joints.

Sleep

For many, sleep is an afterthought and getting enough can be difficult in the modern world. Typically, improving sleep for those who struggle with it involves mindfulness techniques, certain supplements, and daily rituals which help regulate circadian rhythms. Sleep duration and quality are essential to regulate insulin resistance (blood sugar balance) and muscle protein synthesis, so your workouts aren't going to waste.

Stress

A stressed out body is naturally catabolic and inflamed. Therefore, reducing stress and learning to manage it when it is necessary is an essential skill to improve body composition and regulate your emotions.

Toxins

Toxins come in many forms. Drugs and alcohol are some potent and commonly known examples, but also some areas of the world are burdened with environmental toxins like heavy metals, pesticides and herbicides, air pollutants, or radioactive waste. Therefore, I look into your geographical location to assess for potential environmental toxins so we can discuss what you need to be aware of about them, and I work with clients on mitigating toxic effects from drugs and alcohol.

Gut microbiome

Not everyone needs support with their gut microbiome, but some people do. We will discuss your digestive health during our intake session and if there is any indication of dysbiosis, celiac, or other digestive disorders we will address that before absolutely anything else, as poor gut health can detrimentally impede your progress.
